THE NEW GENERATION OF JAZZ presents Tyger Middleton - The Gap in the Music

Tyger Middleton is a multi-instrumentalist completing his Bachelor of Music, majoring in saxophone, at the Jazz Music Institute (JMI) in Brisbane. Tyger was recently selected as the only Queensland-based saxophonist in the Australian National Jazz Orchestra Youth Big Band.

Originally from Newport on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, he began playing saxophone at age 8 under the mentorship of his father, established saxophonist Ross Middleton and studied piano with Andrew Funnell, Roc Koren and jazz legend Dave MacRae. Since 2017, Tyger has performed with renowned musicians including James and William (Min) Morrison and Lachy Hamilton. Since moving to Brisbane in 2021, he has become a sought-after performer, working under Josh Hatcher and Graeme Norris.

After regularly jamming on personally favoured tunes with friends residing in The Gap, he’s returning to The Jazz Club to showcase the newfound sounds. Joining Tyger on stage are Evan J Evans - Drums, Isaac Worland - Bass, Minnie Rumble - Piano, and Alyssa Sinclair - Trumpet, the majority of whom reside at The Gap.
