Who's keen? Should be above board. Just a lil public display of the arts of clowning and stand up. it's not funny but our government arming Israel is aiding and abetting genocide, with laws Australian officials have agreed to in the UN to prosecute domestically. let's make a joke of the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions at their Brisbane office for not doing so.
lemme know if you wanna co-host or take over organising completely!
here's some material for ya
In Australia, aiding and abetting genocide is a criminal offence under both international law incorporated into Australian domestic law, and specific provisions in the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).
1. Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) – Division 268
This is the primary source of Australian law prohibiting genocide and related conduct.
UN Laws Against Aiding and Abetting Genocide
Section 268.3 – Genocide
This section criminalises acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. The acts include:
Killing members of the group
Causing serious bodily or mental harm
Inflicting destructive conditions of life
Imposing measures to prevent births
The United Nations prohibits aiding and abetting genocide primarily through the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Genocide Convention), adopted in 1948. This is reinforced by international criminal law, particularly under the statutes of international tribunals and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
1. Genocide Convention (1948)
Article III of the Genocide Convention criminalizes:
(b) Conspiracy to commit genocide; (components, military bases - pine gap)
**(c) Direct and public incitement to commit genocide; we should really include standing by in this as a people.
**(e) Complicity in genocide - (arming, allowing for military bases to be used re pine gap)
> "Complicity in genocide" includes aiding, abetting, or otherwise assisting in the commission of genocide. Once again arming, allowing military bases to be used re pine gap
2. Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (1998)
This treaty established the ICC and elaborates the individual criminal responsibility for genocide and related crimes.
Article 25(3)(c) of the Rome Statute:
A person is criminally responsible if they:
“For the purpose of facilitating the commission of such a crime, aids, abets or otherwise assists in its commission or its attempted commission, including providing the means for its commission.”
This covers both:
Physical assistance (e.g. supplying weapons, logistics)
Moral support (e.g. encouraging or inciting perpetrators) why not sanctions included in this?
Customary International Law & Precedents
International tribunals (e.g., ICTY, ICTR) have clarified that:
Aiding and abetting genocide does not require intent to commit genocide, only knowledge that your support contributes to it.
