March with us across the Story Bridge to demand that Brisbane City Council allocate one car lane to pedestrian, cyclist and scooter traffic. 

We'll stop car traffic on the bridge and use all six lanes to walk safely across. 

There are thousands of people who use the Story Bridge daily who have had their commutes and travel impacted for well over two months now. It is now clear that the footpaths over the bridge are unsafe to travel on, however more frustrating than the closure is the lack of communication from the Council and the lack of a suitable detour.

For well over two months there has been no timeframe given to the public as to when the footpaths will reopen. The detour suggested by Council is highly unsuitable and unsafe for pedestrians, cyclists and scooters. Council has multiple times published suggested detours that aren't possible. 

We are calling on Council to close a lane of the bridge to vehicles and turn it into a safe lane for pedestrians, cyclists and scooters, as was done on Coronation Drive in 2022. Join us to share the message. 

We'll meet at 8.00am on the eastern end of the new Kangaroo Point Bridge (Scott Street). After a safety briefing we'll proceed onto the roadway once traffic has been stopped, using all six lanes. We'll have a short gathering in the middle of the bridge then proceed to exit to Ivory Lane on the northern end of the bridge. 

This is a peaceful protest. Invite a friend, bring your bike, scooter, pram or wheelchair.
