📖 About the Event:
THE NEW GENERATION OF JAZZ presents Hatty Beeton
Harry Beeton, Brisbane-based drummer is presenting his debut bandleader gig at the Brisbane Jazz Club on August 13th, joined by up-and-coming local improvising musicians Mason Harvey - tenor sax, Minnie Rumble - piano, and Connor Perkins - bass. With a set comprising jazz standards, compositions, pop tunes and everything in between, the group will explore their own musical relationships through improvisation and create a deep and exciting listening experience.
Harry is currently finishing off his Bachelor of Music, in his 3rd year of studying at the Jazz Music Institute (JMI) whilst also serving as a reservist in the Australian Army Band Brisbane since early 2024.
Through both his on-going study and his service in the army band, Harry has been able to gather experience playing in a wide variety of musical styles, developing his musical tastes and approaches to playing in an improvisatory setting. He has been drawn to the versatile stylings of drummers such as Jack DeJohnette, Eric Harland, Israel Fournier, Bill Stewart and Idris Muhammad, whose playing have all left impressions on Harry and continue to inform his musical decision making.
