About the Event:
Brisbane Jazz Orchestra is a professional 19-piece Brisbane-based big band featuring award-winning vocalist, Ingrid James, alongside top-class Queensland instrumentalists, and under the helm of Musical Director/trombonist, Rob Anders. BJO is known for its “impressive dynamism and cohesion, musicianship and execution of exciting repertoire choices.”

This show will feature exciting Big Band music spanning popular, jazz, classical and contemporary genres from the 20th and 21st centuries, with music and arrangements from George and Ira Gershwin to the compelling contemporary grooves and arrangements of the Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band (multiple Grammy and Emmy Award winner). You will hear the timeless ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, ‘Fascinating Rhythm’, ‘Strike up the Band’, ‘Can't Take That Away From Me’, etc., from the 1920's to 1940's, as well as everlasting gems from the Great American Songbook, through to the more bespoke vocal and instrumental arrangements and world rhythms from the Jazz, Cuban and Brazilian Songbooks. Brisbane Jazz Orchestra is known for its diversity of feels and grooves from swing to cha cha cha, calypso, bolero, salsa, mambo, bossanova, samba through to funk.
