- **Event Name**: Rave At Your Fictional Borders (Album Tour)
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 18 Sep, 2026 at 07:00 pm (+01:00)
- **Event Description**: We are delighted to have an old friend and epic drummer/bassist Dave De Rose’s new ensemble come and celebrate their album launch! Some of you may remember him when he played here as part of electronic / Gnawa fusion band Electric Jalaba…. also well know for his ongoing curated improv sessions ‘Agile Experiments’ which took place for many years in Brixton and now Athens.

He has played with the likes of Moloko, Mark Ronson, Mulatu Astatke, John Grant, Joan As A Police Woman, Rokia Traore, Roisin Murphy, Beth Orton, Corinne Bailey Rae, Scroobius Pip, Eska, Bastille…the list goes on. He is all about collaboration and connection that breaks down the barriers and this recent project takes it to the next level.

Rave At Your Fictional Borders are an international three-piece made up of London-based Moroccan drummer Salim Akki, Athens-based German experimental composer Marius Mathiszik and Anglo-Italian multi-instrumentalist and producer Dave De Rose. Rave at Your Fictional Borders is “not beyond borders,” they explain, they “simply deny any notion thereof.”

Their debut Analogue Nomadism album released this April on Belgian label Meakusma was recorded in Morocco. It is a blend of grooves, musical forms and tonalities that attempts to capture the physicality of the rave without reproducing any of its identifying elements.

The sound is Eclectic as hell but also completely cohesive! From Italian library music at one moment into psychedelic jazz or ritualistic desert blues or Chicago post-rock the next. Peppered with Akki’s expressive vocals and Mathiszik’s fizzed twangs.

You can trace their influences, but it remains difficult throughout to place the music itself. The fusion, if it’s even correct to call it that, feels genuinely holistic, created through shared interests and an open-minded ear for sonics rather than an attempt to follow the well-trodden path. Like the best krautrock or gnawa music, ‘Analogue Nomadism‘ is an album that lives and dies on the strength of the groove.

“fun, fruitful collaborative goodness” – Cal Gibson, BAN BAN TON TON

“‘Potion Trigger’ is a compelling work of art that not only challenges musical norms but also encourages introspection, making it a must-listen for those seeking a fresh and thought-provoking musical experience… It showcases the power of music to transcend borders and create a sense of unity within the community.” – FUTURE CLASSICS
