Sussex Symphony Orchestra
With Sussex Chorus, Burgess Hill Choral Society & Roedean Children's Choir
Featuring Zita Syme soprano, Stephen Anthony Brown tenor, James Cleverton baritone
Join us for an epic evening of music, featuring:
Holst – Mars
John Williams – Hymn to the Fallen
Orff – Carmina Burana
Join us for a thrilling programme of drama, beauty, and unforgettable sound. Experience the pounding rhythms of Mars, the Bringer of War, from Gustav Holst’s The Planets — a driving, relentless piece that evokes the drama and chaos of battle. Contrast this with the emotion of John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen, a solemn and beautiful tribute to the lives lost in conflict, best known from the film Saving Private Ryan.
The evening culminates in Carl Orff’s spectacular Carmina Burana — a dramatic, powerful setting of medieval texts exploring themes of fate, love and fortune. From the thunderous O Fortuna to playful and passionate movements, this work is brought vividly to life by full orchestra, massed choirs. This is a concert experience you won’t want to miss!
