Originally used for printing repeat patterns for wall paper in the late 1800s.Lino printing involved a slab of rubbery material made up of cork and linseed oil that you carve into using a sharp lino cutting tool. You cut away parts of a design and leave others (the bits that are left will pick up ink and the bits you cut will not pick up ink).
