The kirtan is on a donation basis in support of the local charity Together Co. which works to alleviate loneliness for people who are socially marginalised or housebound for various reasons. 

Kirtan is a yogic practice of singing Sanskrit mantras in a simple repetitive and meditative manner.
 
There may also be chants and songs in other languages and from other traditions in the same spirit. The mood of Kirtan can be still and introspective or boisterous and expressive, yes, you may dance and both moods can co exist in the same kirtan.
 
The melodies are simple and there is no need for singing experience or skill. Just allow your body to breath, your voice to open and your heart to be immersed in the qualities of the mantras. 

Rosa Chen will be offering a soothing and healing sound bath with Tibetan singing bowls to close the Kirtan.
