ASIST teaches participants to recognise when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.Over the course of your two-day workshop, ASIST participants learn to understand the ways that personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventionsProvide guidance and suicide first aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needsIdentify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement itAppreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at largeRecognise other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-careSome of the learning will take place in the whole group of participants and some in smaller workgroups. You will learn and practise a model of suicide intervention. Your workshop trainers will be available to offer support and will work hard to create a learning atmosphere where participants can also encourage and support each other and have some fun.EligibilityUOK Funded Ticket:This training has been fullly funded by UOK - a network of local services committed to supporting good mental health and wellbeing in Brighton and Hove.
