Everyone is welcome to join us for this amazing event of Afro Brazilian music. 

We are also supporting and asking for donations to help Mestra Di A mestra de Capoeira Angola in Olinda-PE in her capoeira children’s project. Please read more about it below ? 

“The Luz Di Angolinha capoeira project is an initiative led by Mestra Di, carried out in Olinda, Pernambuco. The activities, aimed exclusively at children and young people from neighborhoods on the outskirts of Olinda’s Historic Site, take place weekly on Saturday mornings. Through experiences, workshops, and actions related to Pernambuco’s tangible and intangible heritage, the project seeks to strengthen children’s right to childhood, promoting a broad process of human development.
The project has also given rise to a carnival street troupe (troça carnavalesca), which parades through Barreira do Rosário during Carnival, as well as the coco group Luz Di Angolinha, formed by the children who have already been performing at Olinda’s sambadas.
Mestra Di began her journey in capoeira at the age of 13. Her childhood and youth were transformed by social projects that valued local culture, especially capoeira, frevo, and coco. Having lived this herself, Mestra Di recognizes the importance of these socio-educational initiatives in her life and in the lives of other children and young people of that time—many of whom are now key references in the local cultural scene.”
