Created by British filmmaker Ton Mazzone, the film explores the growing evidence linking childhood trauma to many of the mental health diagnoses seen today.Through internationally recognised experts, lived experience and emerging science, it examines why our mental health system remains rooted in a medical model, what a trauma-informed approach could look like and what it might take to create a society that understands people not simply by what's wrong with them, but by what's happened to them.Following the screening of Traumality, we will be joined by an expert panel featuring Ton Mazzone, Writer, Director and Producer of Traumality; Dr Susanna Petche, NHS GP, Founder of Trauma-Sense and TEDx Speaker; Dr Laura Marshall-Andrews, GP and Author; and Louise Michelle Bombèr, Author, Specialist Teacher, Therapist and Creator of Allado. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the panel during a 30-minute Q&A.This film is rated 18 and is suitable for adults aged 18 and over only.

"description": "I have lived and worked here in Brighton since 2000 within education and social care. With many years of experience at St George’s (renamed The Alternative Centre for Education - ACE) ,The Attachment Project based at CAMHS and the Permanency Team in social services. And more recently as the founder of TouchBase (now Allado) - a trauma recovery centre for children and young people. I work both locally and on a national level. There is so much that can disrupt our original intended pathway as human beings towards felt safety and connection. We can instead end up in a wilderness of toxic stress, of fear and terror due to life events. There are many struggling in our education system right now due to all they have lived to date. I have been advocating for many years for more understanding around why children and adolescents do what they do. My published works evidence this.My dream is that compassion would increase in both ourselves and in others who have suffered adverse childhood experiences. And that many would come to realise there are other pathways of support possible. We currently rely so heavily on diagnoses and medical intervention right now, but what might be possible if we explored a trauma pathway first and if we took up our collective responsibility to engage in the relational buffering necessary to dampen down the impact of toxic stress in others?Attachment aware and trauma responsive practices can be integrated into our individual roles, responsibilities and into systems but we need brave leaders to stand up and speak out. Our stories are significant. For such a time as this…..Louise Michelle Bomberwww.allado.org.uk"
