Opposite SEA LIFE Brighton, near the entrance to Brighton Pier, Marine Parade, Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom
Join us for a 90-minute guided seaside walk from Brighton to the lovely village of Rottingdean, about 4 miles eastwards along the Sussex coast. This walk is for everybody – it is entirely off-road on good paved paths with no steep hills, and is also suitable for dogs and children. [Alternatively, the same route can be covered in a guided bicycle tour on official cycle paths – please enquire via www.marcgardiner.com].
Starting from the entrance to Brighton Pier (opposite Sea Life, the oldest operating aquarium in the world), we follow the beach to Brighton Marina whilst your guide describes the history and geography of the area. We then take the coastal path under white cliffs as far as the Saxon village of Rottingdean, where there are a number of historical sites and refreshment options. You could eat fish and chips along with a cuppa or a pint, enjoy the local beaches, do a circular hike into the hills behind, swim in the sea, or just relax on the beach! There are also lovely views as we look further along the English Channel towards Eastbourne -why not make a day of it and visit the South Downs National Park, including Seven Sisters (a series of chalk sea cliffs) and the infamous Beachy Head?
The return journey to Brighton is unaccompanied and at your leisure. It can be done from Rottingdean on foot (90’), by local bus (45'), by bicycle (30’), or by taxi (15’). Your guide will be pleased to provide further information and assistance.
