Hands stayed busy shaping dough, and in that rhythm something passed between them. Knowledge. Stories. The kind of wisdom that only travels from hand to hand, from generation to generation.At Zhiva Authentica, we honour this tradition and bring it to life here in Bridport — with real food, live music, and the warmth of a shared table.The eveningYou arrive at 7pm to a candlelit table and the sound of a live cellist playing the music of Mykola Lysenko — Ukraine's greatest classical composer, who spent his life preserving folk melodies so they would never be forgotten.Together we make three kinds of varenyky entirely by hand. No machines, no shortcuts — just flour, water, and the technique passed down through Ukrainian kitchens for generations. While our hands work, we talk. The conversation that happens over dough is different from any other conversation.When the dumplings are ready, we sit down together and eat everything we made. The cellist plays.
