Then you and your crew (adults and youth) are invited to attend the 2026 Philmont "PHIL-A-PALOOZA" Trek Training Program hosted by our Longhorn Council Philmont Ambassadors on the weekend of Friday, February 20 th through Sunday February 22nd, 2026, at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch, Camp 9 Dining Hall. Bring your entire crew out to learn best practices at Philmont to make your trek be the best that it can be! Use this weekend as one of your Shakedown campouts and practice the Philmont cooking and cleaning methods for your Saturday night meal. (Saturday night meal not included in registration) Arrive Friday evening, set up camp on the parade grounds or at one of the Philmont style camp sites. (more info to follow on that) At the PHIL-A-PALOOZA Trek Training Program, the Ambassadors will go over topics to make your trek be the best that it can be! The program will start promptly at 9:00 AM on February 21, 2025, inside the Camp 9 Dining Hall. One Ambassador will join each crew Saturday evening to provide guidance with your Philmont style cooking of your dehydrated dinner and Philmont cleaning methods. (Food, pots, pans, utensils, stoves, etc. are not provided. Each crew shall supply their own food, pots, pans, utensils, stoves, etc. for all meals other than Saturday lunch.) The program will cover: Your First 48 Hours at Philmont | Fitness Training Program | Your Health and the Health of your Crew | BEST PRACTICES | Lessons Learned | Special Diet | lunch is included | Map Study/ UTM Training | HYGIENE BREAKOUTS, One for Males and One for Females | Hands on TABLE BREAKOUTS to discuss TENTS, SLEEP SYSTEMS, BACKPACKS, FOOTWEAR, CAMP STOVES, CAMP KITCHEN, Crew Gear, CLOTHING and MORE GEAR | How to Pack Your Pack | What is in Your Pack | Pack Fit.
