Ever wondered why Pencoed is called Pencoed?
Join us for a friendly community walk up to Coed y Mwster, the woodland that gave our town its name. *Pencoed* means “the head of the woods”, and for centuries this ridge of trees marked the edge of the old medieval estate linked to Llangrallo. Travellers, drovers and early parish boundaries all used these woods as a landmark long before the town we know today took shape.
This month we’ll be heading up to those very woods for a mix of gentle walking, litter collecting, and some hands‑on path clearance. Recent storms have brought down a number of trees, turning parts of the footpath into something of an adventure assault course. We’ll be working together to make it safer and more accessible for everyone who enjoys the area.
