The Between the Trees festival is a celebration of traditional folk music, poetry, ancient rites and dance. It is held annually in the woods at Candleston. This walk is part of this year’s festival although it is open to member of the public not attending the festival through this web page.
As we go around be prepared for stories of spirituality. Everything from the Dark Age Celtic stones behind the village church to the medieval pilgrimage along St Thomas Way. But it isn’t all uplifting stuff. You will also hear about the exploits of Cap Coch, the most villanous highwayman in Welsh history. And the barbaric Maurice de Londres, Norman kight and lord of Ogmore Castle, whose conduct was so poor he was threatened with excommunication by the pope!
