"Solstice Tree" Reading and Botanical Drawing

Join author, artist, and naturalist Grace Emmet for an introductory botanical drawing workshop and special reading of her newly released book Solstice Tree: A Story of a Forest in Times of Darkness and Light.

In this workshop, Grace will share excerpts from her new book depicting naturalist observations of Provincetown's beloved Beech Forest, talk about her writing and drawing process, and lead some exercises in basic botanical drawing. Beginners welcome!

About the Author

Artist, writer, and naturalist Grace Emmet lives and works out of the beautiful nook of Outer Cape Cod tucked in-between two seasides. Her place-based art practice is dependent on an intimate relationship with the land informed by her foraging and natural ink making process. She has shown in galleries, museums, and universities across the Northeast and her artwork can be found at Frying Pan Gallery and Farm Projects. She is the author of Solstice Tree: A Story of a Forest in Times of Darkness and Light and the substack Sundog published seasonally.
