Open Mic Night with Karlos Amigo and Tom Petrie @ BCA Friday, March 27 at 7:00 PM This BCA Open Mic event is sponsored by the Steve Fleury Community Music Fund and there is no charge to perform. Donations, however, are greatly appreciated ($5/pp suggested). A sound system will be available with ¼-inch and XLR inputs for acoustic instruments and vocal microphones. Performers with electric instruments should bring their own amplifiers. Due to space and time limitations, drum sets are discouraged. In-person sign-ups begin at 6:30 PM with performances starting at 7 PM, following our musical guest showcase set. Performers will be called to the stage in the order signed up, with the last performer starting at approximately 9:00 PM. Suggest arriving early to sign up and ensure getting a spot in the evening’s program. Each performer will have approximately 10 minutes to perform two or 3 songs. Please be prepared when you are called to the stage with your instrument tuned and your gear ready. Clear the stage quickly when you are done. Please be courteous and avoid loud conversations when others are performing. Support your colleagues by providing respectful encouragement and showing sincere appreciation. Thank you to Karl Beck and Tom Petrie for offering to host our Open Mic Nights! About our hosts: Karl Beck (aka Karlos Amigo): Karlos grew up in Syracuse and moved to Central Square in 1990. He's been a harmonica player for around 50 years now. In the late '90s, he had the opportunity to take lessons from one of the top CNY blues harmonica players (Tom Townsley), where he learned some great harmonica techniques. About 6 years ago, he picked up the bass guitar, which he now plays weekly at a local church in Brewerton. Over the years, he's played in several cover bands, including a local three-piece "Train Wreck Prophet" and the five-piece cover band "Joint Effort". Tom Petrie: Tom and Karlos met back in the '80s through a mutual friend while jamming at house parties. Tom has played guitar and bass for many years. His interest in live music led him to study sound production a few years back, giving him the opportunity to run sound for various local and national acts. After a long hiatus, the two were re-connected through some very unique circumstances and decided to start playing together.
