He traces his culinary passion back to his teenage years, when watching Emeril Live and other Food Network shows sparked a lifelong obsession with food.Rooted in an Italian heritage, he grew up savoring his grandmother's traditional cooking and his mother's Italian American dishes with flavors that continue to shape his philosophy in the kitchen today. He began his culinary journey at just 13, working in a local diner, before landing under the mentorship of Paul Callahan (currently Executive Chef at Vino e Vivo) straight out of high school. Callahan opened his eyes to food as an art form, a lesson that remains foundational to his craft.Chef Jason Santos further shaped his approach to cooking and kitchen leadership during his formative years, with stints at several of Santos' celebrated Boston restaurants, including Blue Inc and Abby Lane. Buonagurio has also held roles at Tony & Eileen's, Ward 8, and Piattini, building a career deeply rooted in Boston's vibrant food scene.Eric's cooking style is best described as Italian-driven and ingredient-obsessed, spotlighting locally grown produce, foraged wild plants and mushrooms, and imported Italian staples. Two of his greatest passions outside the kitchen, foraging and gardening, directly inform his seasonal, terroir-focused approach. When he's not cooking, you'll find him hiking, fishing, or out in the woods searching for his next great ingredient.A proud winner of the first-ever North End Meatball Competition, he brings the same competitive spirit and heartfelt tradition to every plate he creates.About the event:Limited seats are available to dine with the fungi and enjoy a meal in a functioning mushroom farm.There are 24 general admission seats available.The menu will be 4 courses with ingredients selected by the chef based on what is available seasonally and locally as much as possible. Mushrooms will be used in each course, sometimes the star of the show, sometimes subtley, but always in deliciously creative ways.We enjoy making our dinner events as interactive as possible. If you have questions about mushroom farming, foraging, or mushrooms in general, Dunk will be there to chat with the room, and the Chef will be available as each course is served, to talk about the masterpiece.One of our mushroom coffee's will be served, prior to and throughout the dinner.IF YOU HAVE ANY DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, REACH OUT TO US WHEN PURCHASING TICKETS. We can accommodate GF, Vegan, Pescatarian etc.WE MAY BE UNABLE TO ACCOMMODATE ANY LAST MINUTE REQUESTS.This is a BYOB event.Doors open at 5:00.The Dunk's Mushroom store will be opened up after the dinner.
