Please save the date and attend our Fourth Quarter Meeting held on Sunday December 14th, 2025 at 11:30 AM at the South Hills Country Club.

Our speaker with be Dr. Peter Gilmore. 

His talk will be on the Hannastown Resolves, a remarkable episode in which Western Pennsylvanians, a full year before the Declaration of Independence, declared their readiness to take up arms against  the British government should circumstances require it.

Dr. Gilmore writes extensively on Ulster Presbyterian immigration to North America. He is an ordained elder at Sixth Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and he is the author of Irish Presbyterians and the Shaping of Western Pennsylvania, 1770-1830 (Pittsburgh, 2018), and a principal author of Exiles of '98: Ulster Presbyterians and the United States.

Dr. Gilmore also contributed to The Routledge History of Irish America (New York/London, 2024) with the chapter “Ulster Presbyterians and the Development of a ‘Scotch-Irish’ Identity.’” He is currently an adjunct professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville and frequently teaches for the University of Pittsburgh’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
