The Brecon to Cardiff Ultra is a 70km, point-to-point, fully marked race that follows the stunning Taff Trail from the heart of Brecon all the way to the Welsh capital. A firm fixture on the ultra-running calendar, it’s the perfect choice whether you’re tackling your first ultra or chasing an early-season PB.
Your journey begins in the breath-taking Brecon Beacons National Park, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. From there, the route take in trails past tumbling waterfalls and crystal-clear reservoirs before heading south into a landscape shaped by Wales’s rich industrial heritage.
The opening 30km features scenic footpaths and forest trails, before reaching the halfway checkpoint at Merthyr — an ideal spot for a shoe change. From here, the terrain transitions to an off-road cycle path that carries you smoothly (and downhill) to the finish in Cardiff.
