Our first read: Elif Shafak's "10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World" (300 pp, the author's eleventh book, shortlisted for the 2019 Booker Prize) opens with the protagonist, 'Tequila Leila', a prostitute, shortly after she has been murdered. Interestingly enough, she enters a state of awareness in her last moments, and recalls her entire life. This is how the "Strange World" comes to life. 

The book is available on Cărturești.ro and at the Cărturești bookstore in Piața Sfatului.
