Spruce Woods Hidden Trails endurance ride features new trails that haven't been used in prior rides, so there will be something new for everyone. A portion of the ride follows the Trans Canada Trail, which has a limestone path. Please keep horses OFF the limestone. Failure to keep horses off the limestone may result in horses being banned from using the trail at all, so your cooperation is greatly appreciated. All trails and facilities are open to the public. It is expected that all facilities and trails will be shared with others, and all trail users and campers will be treated respectfully.
The 50 mile ride consists of 3 loops. The first loop is 25 miles with a trot-by presentation and crew area away from camp at approximately the 13 mile mark. Transport for a small amount of crewing supplies will be provided for those who would like feed/etc available at the trot-by location. The 25 mile ride is a combination of a 14/15 mile loop with a 10/11 mile loop. The hope is that the Saturday and Sunday will use two different 14/15 mile loops to provide different trails for those riding both days. Trails are very barefoot friendly with the majority being two-track grass and sand trails. There is a small amount of gravel, but you are able to ride off to the side on the grass if needed.
Awards and prizes will take place at after the potluck supper on Saturday and after the final 50 mile riders are done on Sunday. If you must leave earlier, please stop at the ride tent and pick up your rider card and completion or placing ribbon. Ride prizes have been graciously donated by Oak Valley Pottery. You must be in attendance at the award presentations to claim your prize, if you are not in attendance the prize will go to the next participant.
Ride camp will be located on the hill to the Southeast of the equestrian campground. There is no electricity or permanent horse pens at this location. Please come prepared to camp and contain your horse.
