Set in the historic town of Haworth, Longlands Hall sits in the heart of Bronte country close the windy moors made famous by the Bronte Sisters.
The Hall was built between 1882 and 1884 for wealthy mill owner Edwin Merrall. It was occupied by the Merralls with their seven children up until the start of the First World War. Following the death of Edwin and his son Philip, it was sold by Mary Merrall in 1919.
After the family left during WWI, it passed through several owners, becoming a hostel for Italian mill girls before falling into disrepair and being bought by the YHA in 1974. The YHA officially opened it as a hostel in 1976, and it remains an historic hostel to this day.
Many visitors to this Hall have encountered apparitions within the hallways and heard unexplained female voices. The spirit of what appears to a lady has also been seen on the staircase.
This is an overnight/sleepover event. As this is primarily a youth hostel, we are able to accommodate our guests in the comfort of dormitory style bedrooms with bedding included.
There may also be an optional night time walk down the famous cobbles of Haworth with a visit to the graveyard and the parsonage.
Who or what will we encounter during the night?
