Inspired by modern quilters who are reviving this art for the 21st century with clean lines and bright colour pallets. She also loves learning about the rich history and stories behind quilting as an artform. Although quite new to quilting, Lucy learned to sew very young, studying Textile Design at college and then Stage and Costume Design at university. She picked her sewing machine back up during lockdown, when fabric shops were closed there were only small scraps and old clothes available at home, the perfect place to start a quilt! Now she buys her fabrics and materials from local suppliers across Yorkshire. Lucy enjoys the waste-free, eco-friendly and thrifty nature of quilting, using every scrap of fabric to make a product that can be treasured for years to come. @lucy.quiltsJoin modern quilter Lucy Norton for an introduction to all things quilting! In this workshop we will work learn how quilting techniques can be used to make functionally and decorative pieces for your home, especially at Christmas! Starting with choosing fabrics, then piecing and sandwiching and finally binding your stocking which you’ll then have to take home with you. All equipment and materials provided – but please feel free to bring along any special fabrics you might have at home that you'd like to incorporate into your quilt.
