Weβre excited to announce that Bradford on Avonβs Christmas Lights Switch-On is back on Friday 28 November (4pm to 8pm) in Westbury Garden β sponsored by BLB Solicitors!
While Storm Bert forced us to cancel last yearβs event β it just means that weβre determined to make this year bigger and better.
Get ready for a festive evening packed with live music, a fairground and plenty more β all leading up to the big moment when the townβs lights are switched on by Mayor, Councillor Jack Vittles at 6pm.
βThe Christmas Lights Switch On is always one of the highlights of the year, and itβs a great example of where the whole town comes out to support our amazing community,β said Councillor Vittles.
βIβd really urge people to join us and celebrate and to take some time to visit our great local shops and restaurants during the evening.β
Right after the lights are switched on at 6.01pm, local favourites Karport Collective will take to the stage in Westbury Garden and keep the party going until 8pm.
In the run-up to the big event, the town will be getting into the festive spirit with the traditional Christmas tree in Westbury Garden, sponsored by the Bradford on Avon Lions Club.
Youβll also spot beautifully decorated trees at the Tithe Barn (sponsored by the Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust), outside the railway station (sponsored by Great Western Railway) and the Giving Tree in Lamb Yard, once again provided by the town council.
Whatβs happening
There will be fairground rides in the library car park on Bridge Street, while St Margaretβs car park will be filled with delicious food and drink stalls.
Youβll also find some wonderful gift stalls in Westbury Garden to get everyone in the festive spirit.
Donβt forget, the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will be open until 8pm, so you can pick up your Cards for Good Causes Christmas cards while youβre there.
Santa will also be at the TIC with his travelling grotto from 5pm to 8pm, so be sure to drop in with your wish list!
Plus, if you head into Lamb Yard, youβll find more live music and the Giving Tree β celebrating 11 years of festive generosity. As well as more wonderful artisan stalls.
This year, the Giving Tree is collecting for Bath Cats & Dogs Home, Julian House and The Hub @BA15.
And thereβs more! Enjoy late-night shopping in the town centre, where our fantastic local shops are ready to help you find the perfect Christmas gifts.
In the run-up to the event, look up and youβll see mini-Christmas trees and sparkling lights brightening the fronts of local BOA businesses.
