The first session (5/30) will consist of instruction on how to load and operate the camera and a photo walk to expose a roll of film. The second session (6/13) will be a presentation of your work after the film has been developed.The cost of this 2 day workshop is $100, and includes a HOLGA camera for you to keep, and 2 rolls of B&W Film, one that will be developed and scanned, and a contact sheet from the first session, and one to take home after the secondWhat is Braddock Photo Works?Braddock Photo Works is a resource for photographers of all levels and interests. As a collaborative hub for education in all things photography, the BPW focuses on the craft and art of photography as a means of individual expression, whether a hobby or career. By providing the tools and teaching the skills necessary to elevate photography beyond the status of mere “content”, the BPW community will foster a deeper understanding of the craft of photography as a true form of artistic and personal expression, be it via film, digital, or time-honored alternative processes.These aims will be achieved through education. A wide range of traditional classes, workshops, lectures, and experiences will offer something for everyone. The space will include a full traditional film darkroom, digital editing and printing suite, a fully equipped photo studio, and a gallery. As a safe place to gather, learn, experiment, and grow one’s photographic vision the center strives to preserve the craft and art of photography and teach a means of expression and communication that is more valuable to the practitioner and even to the larger world, well beyond today’s commodified, scroll-on-past idea of photography.A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Braddock Photo Works will dedicate itself to the understanding and advancement of photography through hands-on experiences for all people who have an interest. From children to seniors, meaningful photography is within reach for everyone. Exploring identity, memory, documentation, and honing a vision can contribute to an improved sense of self-worth and quality of life for all.
