- **Event Description**: Join us for this two part beginner-friendly knitting hat project class. In this class, you will learn how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off. Students will also learn to read a knitting pattern, decrease stitches, sew invisible seams (mattress stitch), and make a pom-pom.

In session one, students will learn the basics and start knitting their hats. We'll go over everything you'll want to know for this project and beyond, learning about different types of yarns and tools and how to decipher a knitting pattern. We'll then cast on and do a bit of warm up knitting, and dive into our hats! Students can knit a solid color hat, or mix it up with some color-blocking or stripes.

Over the week before the next session, students will continue working on their hats for an hour or two to prep for the second session, but don't worry -- this will be the extra easy part that you can do while watching a movie!

In session two, students will return to finish their hats. We'll learn how to decrease stitches, bind off, and sew an invisible seam using mattress stitch. We'll learn to make a pom-pom and how to attach it to our hats, although pom-poms are optional if that's not your style. To finish up, we'll go over some extra tips and tricks to get you set up and on your way to making many more projects!

This class will get you comfortable with the basics of knitting and show you tips and tricks along the way to knitting more after class. You can tackle scarves, other hats, mittens, and maybe even a sweater!

Class includes all supplies -- yarn will be available in a huge variety of colors and you will leave class with a pair of needles to keep knitting at home.
