It Takes a Village: The Artists of Dorset
With fewer than 300 year-round residents, the small village of Dorset is a hotbed for creativity. Five artists, who are also friends, work alone on their art but come together on community projects. The beauty of the area and the social qualities of the village charges their artistic batteries. This exhibition displays the work by Peter Kourtz (giant mechanical sculptures that harness the wind), Chris Keene (powerful bronze sculptures and detailed representational acrylic paintings), Elizabeth Johnson (loose landscapes, representational and abstract in oil and watercolour), Elise Muller (stone carvings in soapstone and alabaster) and Cirvan Hamilton (fine woodworking made from domestic wood).
It Takes a Village opens with a public reception on Saturday, June 22 between 1pm and 3pm. The exhibition continues until July 20.
