DESCRIPTION

Have you never weaved before but are curious?

Felt shy to join Community Events, but want to?

Yes? We'd love you to accept this as your personal invitation to come along and sit with us in our circle of 'Threading Country'- a free healing day created for Southern Highlands Aboriginal women and girls aged 16 and over who have not woven before.

We'll spend the day together - reconnecting to the materials and practices that research indicates belonged to our Ancestors on the Wingecarribee, and that belong to us still.

ON THE DAY

? Weaving Circle: Sit together and learn to weave with Lomandra - the same strappy plant our Gundungurra Ancestors gathered from the water's edge of the Wingecarribee River for thousands of years. Hands in. Stories flowing.

?? As our Weaving Sista Pam says, "Weaving is like sewing a button. We start you off, and then it's one stitch, over another stitch, over another". We've got You Sis! 

? Thread Your Necklace: Transform your woven piece into keepsake that threads you back in time. 

?️ Lunch Together: Share a meal with your Sisters. Gluten-free and vegetarian options available.

? Sit in Circle: We're honoured that Aunty Robin and Aunty Joyce will be with us throughout the day - weaving with us, and sharing stories of Community and what it means to belong.
