This introductory solo dance class starts from the beginning teaching rhythm, styling, and the basic components of samba no pé, the style of samba seen during Brazilian Carnavál. Samba no pé is a solo dance form, and you are welcome at any stage of training. We'll warm up, practice fundamentals, then learn a short routine that will build over the 3 classes. Register for the 3-week series to get the most out of your training. Drop-ins are also welcome!

Forró is a popular partner dance originating in northeast Brazil. In Brazil, it is danced by young and old alike, from family gatherings to clubs. In this class, you'll learn the basic steps, rhythms, and lead/follow techniques that make this dance so playful. Over the 3-week series, we will build simple patterns and sequences to support your learning the moves. Come with a partner or solo; we will rotate partners so everyone has a chance to dance. While lead/follow roles conventionally align with male/female, in my classes all identities are welcome and you choose which role to learn. Registering for the full series is highly recommended, as each class will build on the previous. Drop-ins are welcome if you know the basics or have other partner dance experience.
