An Evening with Dr. Brené Brown
Dr. Brené Brown, research professor and Huffington Endowed Chair at the University of Houston, will speak at CU Boulder’s Macky Auditorium on November 8th, 2017. Brené's speech will seek to challenge guests on everything we think we know about cultivating true belonging in our communities, organizations, and culture. Her new book – Braving the Wilderness – will serve as guide.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m, with the event beginning at 7:30 p.m. Macky Auditorium has assigned seating. An extremely limited number of Community tickets ($25) will be available beginning October 23rd at 10:30 am exclusively at colorado.edu/macky. CU Boulder student ($2) and faculty/staff ($10) tickets are cash only and require a valid BuffOne Card at time of purchase. Tickets will be sold weekdays beginning October 23rd from 10:30 a.m to 3:00 pm at the first-floor event table in the University Memorial Center, and will continue until tickets are sold out. Each ticketing tier is permitted one additional ticket per guest (for a total of two). Due to high demand, group seating exceptions will not be made, larger groups must purchase together at the same time.
Dr. Brené Brown gained celebrity following her famous TEDx Houston speech, “The Power of Vulnerability,” where she explored the concepts of vulnerability, courage, and shame. Amassing more than 30 million views, Dr. Brown’s speech is one of the top five most-watched TED talks of all time. In addition to her fame on the TEDx stage, Dr. Brown has published multiple New York Times bestselling books: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, and Rising Strong.
Audience members are encouraged to submit questions for Dr. Brown, later asked during a moderated Q&A following the speech. Questions may be submitted on the official Facebook event page, on Twitter to our account @cudsb, or on the Distinguished Speakers Board BuffConnect portal.
