- **Event Description**: Join the Mariposa Collective Wednesday mornings from 10-11:30am at Mi Chantli Art & Movement Sanctuary. Classes are $20 to drop in. Discounts for punchcards are available, and your first class at the studio is $5! Mariposa Collective Artists and collaborators will lead dance and movement classes rotating on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. 

We are excited to welcome Mariposa Collective collaborator ShawnT Stone to teach in July!

This dance class will be for all levels with a focus on the sensational and expressive quality of ‘technique’ in movement. Technique can be understood as the act placing the body where you intend it be, when you intend it be there, while transitioning through aligned efficiency of anatomy, mind, emotion, and heart/spirit. A long, gooey and often yoga adjacent, warm-up will prepare bodies for the movement phrase of the class. Movement curiosities, across the floor, play, and thematic tones will support dancers to embody a culminating movement phrase.

ShawnT Stone (they/she) is a multidisciplinary artist, movement facilitator, and somatic art therapist (MA, LPCC, ATR-P) residing in Boulder, CO.  ShawnT earned their BA in studio art/communication studies from the University of Iowa where they were a four year letter winning NCAA gymnast. They performed professionally as an acrobat (including three years in Le Reve, The Dream at Wynn Las Vegas) before earning their MFA in Dance from the University of Maryland, where they were a graduate teaching assistant (2019). They have taught, choreographed, and performed dance internationally, including performances at the Beijing Modern Dance Festival, The Kennedy Center, and Jacob’s Pillow. ShawnT’s creative work explores the intersections of movement/dance, somatic experience, and visual art invested in integrative queering, social-environmental justice, and contemplative imagination as world making.
