The Boulder Junction Public Library and Boulder Junction Area Historical Society are partnering to present OurStory: a Monthly History Series. Programs will share “OurStory” - highlighting a local history topic or area of interest that helps us remember the past, understand how it impacts our present, and preserve these memories for the future.
Join us for “Dr. Kate: Angel on Snowshoes” on Thursday, September 25 at 7pm at the Boulder Junction Community Center. Dr. Kate Pelham Newcomb, who is remembered as the "Angel on Snowshoes" for her dedication in reaching patients when the winter roads were impassable, played a vital role in the history of Wisconsin's great Northwoods. Dr. Kate practiced medicine in and around Boulder Junction and Woodruff, WI.
Marsha Doud and Barb Maines, from the Dr. Kate Museum and Historical Society in Woodruff, will be sharing the story of Dr. Kate, the history of Woodruff, how the Lakeland hospital began, and the story of the Million Penny Parade.
