Kuang, one of the most influential voices in contemporary speculative fiction. Kuang is the award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Poppy War trilogy, Babel: An Arcane History, Yellowface, Katabasis, and, most recently, Taipei Story.Born in Guangzhou, China and raised in the United States, Kuang brings a deeply transpacific perspective to her work, one shaped by her academic training and scholarly commitments. She studied history at Georgetown University and, as a Marshall Scholar, earned graduate degrees in Chinese Studies from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. She is currently pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University, where her research focuses on Sinophone and Asian American literature.Moderated by Doreen Lee (Northeastern) and Min Hyoung Song (Boston College)Cosponsored by the English Department, History Department, Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies Department, Writing Program, and the Asian American Center.Free and open to the public.
