She holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and shows her work widely in New England, New York, and beyond. Brooke works in Studio 291 at Western Avenue Studios &amp; Lofts in Lowell, MA. She is currently represented by The Society of American Graphic Artists and Equity Gallery in New York, NY and Galaray House, contemporary art gallery in Lexington, MA. She has thirteen years of teaching experience and currently teaches adult art workshops and holds artist demos at several locations in New England.Class DescriptionIn this class students will be introduced to the printmaking process of linocut. The class will cover techniques in carving linoleum, composition, ink mixing, and printing. At their own pace students will learn how to create a design and carve it in linoleum using carving tools. Students will learn how to ink and print their linoleum blocks by hand. In a relaxed and welcoming environment students will create many beautiful prints of their own as well as collaborate with their classmates.This class is suitable for beginners and can be adjusted for all levels of experience.Material FeeThe materials fee for this class is $15. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts payments in Cash and Venmo.Class Goals Students will learn to draw a design for printing with an understanding of reverse images, contrast, and creating a compelling composition.Students will learn carving techniques for two types of carving tools, V-guage and U-guage and carve their designs out of linoleum blocks Students will learn to ink up their blocks with ink and print multiple prints by handStudents will each go home with their carved block and 5 prints of their design on blank greeting cards with envelopes.Students will come away with a greater understanding of linocut printmaking and their own unique handmade art. Material Suppliedlinoleumpencilsink brayers palette knifecarving toolsblank envelopes and cardspaper for take homehandouts Students Should BringStudents do not need to bring anything. This class does get inky, so it is suggested to wear paint clothes. PrerequisitesThis is an adult class, students must be 18+.
