It's Harborfest Week in Boston!
On this special afternoon tour, we'll get you inside a museum that isn't ordinarily open to the public: Verizon's museum of the telephone, which contains an incredible collection of early telephone equipment, as well as a recreation of Alexander Graham Bell's lab that was overseen by his assistant, Thomas Watson.
Then, we'll walk together and discuss several other key places on The Innovation Trail, before wrapping up at the Ether Dome — the operating theater in the oldest part of Mass. General, where the first surgery using anesthesia was performed.
Most of this event will be inside, so we'll run it regardless of the weather. Your guides will be Scott Kirsner, co-founder of The Innovation Trail, and Sarah Alger, director of the Russell Museum of Medical History & Innovation at MGH.
When you join us for this special tour, you can purchase a Benefactor Ticket that includes a limited edition embroidered Innovation Trail hat. (See below for photo.) We'll also give one or two of these away to tour participants who ask great questions or share some historical knowledge with the group.
We start very close to the Bowdoin and Government Center T stops, and end very close to Charles Street. If you drive, the best parking is at the Center Plaza Garage.
Also check out other Trips & Adventurous Activities in Boston, Arts events in Boston, Theatre events in Boston.
