Read Around the World will begin with a Book Swap Kick-Off Event!
When: Friday November 14th @ 3 pm
Where: OTA's PYP Cafeteria
How it Works:
Drop off gently used books in the PYP Vestibule donation box anytime before Thursday, November 14
Come to the Book Swap at 3 PM to browse and take home new-to-you books. Don’t forget to bring a reusable bag!
Ready, set, read! The read a thon clock starts ticking! Students will have from 11/14 @ 3pm until 11/18 @ 8 pm to read as much as they can. Being read to counts, and so do audiobooks, as long as they are actively listening.
Parents can help by setting up their student's 99 pledges account. This is where you can log their reading minutes.
Student's minutes are tracked and totaled daily by class, the more each class reads, the faster they "race" around the world. The first class to Asia wins the Golden Lantern Trophy engraved with their class and year!
Paper packets will be in backpacks this week, but here is a quick overview:
How to Set Up Your Student’s 99 Pledges Page
Follow these 3 simple steps:
1️⃣ Visit www.99pledges.com/fund/OTAreads/addme or scan the QR code here →
2️⃣ Enter your student’s name using this format: First name (or nickname) and first initial of last name — for example, “Avery C.”
3️⃣ Add up to two parent email addresses and select your student’s teacher from the dropdown list.
Click “Add” — and that’s it! You’ll be taken to your student’s personal Read-A-Thon pledge page, and a confirmation email will be sent to the address you entered.
❗ Important Next Step!
After you set up your student’s page, you’ll receive an email from Krystal “Check out your new fundraising page” with two important links:
Your Student’s Public Page – The link you’ll share with family and friends so they can make pledges.
Your Private Management Page – Your personal link to update your student’s page, log reading minutes, and manage donations.
Tip: Be sure to save this email or bookmark the management link! This is where you log minutes daily under the TRACK tab.
You’ll use that same link each day to log your student’s reading minutes and track progress throughout the week.
