- **Event Description**: This is the 2nd event in our Winter Sowing Workshop Series! For this 2nd workshop we will take a much deeper dive into the different types of seed dormancy and how each can be overcome via artificial techniques, including artificial cold and warm stratification, scarification, and other methods. 

This event will be led by Matt Darling, Assistant Property Manager of Deam Lake SRA and former native plant nursery owner. We will take a fascinating look into how the biology behind each type of seed dormancy guides the different methods of overcoming each dormancy. Participants will be able to take home their own stratified and scarified seeds, which can be sown in spring once dormancy is broken. 

All seeds, soil, and other supplies will be provided, but a $5 per-participant donation is encouraged to help cover material costs. 

Meet at the Forest Education Center. This event is held indoors.

Please RSVP to MDarling2@dnr.IN.gov to reserve a spot. This class is limited to 35 participants. This workshop is designed for adults and children 12 and up.
