- **Event Description**: A practical session to equip us with the knowledge and tools we need to live well until we die and look after the people we care about.About this EventIt’s not a comfortable truth, but we’re all going to die – whether we like it or not, we all live with it every day. Some of us are grieving people who have died, some are living with ill health, some caring for someone that needs our help/support, some are looking to the future (someone else’s or our own) and wondering what it will hold. As a society, we’re not very informed, we’re not very experienced and we don’t always know what we don’t know. This session is designed to give you some of the information you need to think ahead, understand what the future might hold and begin to make some plans – so that, we can all live well now and in the future. Some of the things we will cover are:What do people die of these days, and what might that look like? What is future care planning?Powers of AttorneyWhy everyone needs a willPlanning for emergencies…and much more beside. Bring your questions, experiences and ‘issues’ - join us to have a think about what it means to live and die well.We are very pleased to be running this in conjunction with St. Columba's Hospice Care and The University of Edinburgh.Dr Scott Murray, Emeritus Professor of Primary Palliative Care,Edinburgh University.Becky Chaddock, Senior Social Worker, Future Care Planning Lead, St Columba's Hospice.Geraldine Bathe, Communities, Lifelong Learning and Employability Worker, Midlothian Council. If you decide to register then please be fully committed.
