His philosophy is to work with Capoeira as a whole. He sees it as a universe that is interrelated in its various aspects, and it is only by gaining understanding of this whole that can lead to a better mastery of the parts that compose it. Through his teachings he seeks to understand Capoeira's traditional roots and the transformations that have occurred to this day, as well as the foundations and rituals that make up its practice in order to avoid the loss of its origins. Mestre Bocão is passionate about developing the folkloric content present in the universe of this art, such as: Maculelê, Puxada de Rede, Samba de Roda, Dança do Fogo, amongst others. Mestre Bocão works closely with researchers, anthropologists and historians who produce work in the field of Capoeira. This work has resulted in the creation of the 'National Centre for Documentation and Research on Capoeira', currently with more than 15 thousand titles, a very rich source of information and documentation for research on Capoeira. As a teacher, Mestre Bocão provides coherent and quality knowledge, allowing his alunos access to other sources of information and other points of view, guiding their paths according to their objectives and potential, He believes that only in this way will we be able to contribute to the formation of more competent, differentiated and critical capoeiristas. In his view, It is up to the teacher to teach their alunos to love and respect Capoeira, to provide the best paths and encourage them in their search, fostering maturity as capoeiristas.
