Junior Farrier Demonstration Clinic

Free for CTDA Juniors and their parents or coaches!

Details:
Our clinician is Dylan Butchin who has worked as a Certified Farrier for 10 years.

Topics will include:
Education and training to be Certified Farrier and why this is important
Anatomy- parts of the hoof
Tools of the trade
Problems such as: quarter cracks, toe cracks, contracted heels, long toes, uneven wear, winging, paddling, & thrush
Barefoot vs Shoes
Types of shoes and their uses (heart bars, egg bars, glue on, aluminum vs steel, etc.)
Trimming - part mechanics & part art
A demonstration of trimming and application of front steel shoes will follow the lecture.

There will be lots of opportunity for Q and A during both the lecture and demonstration.
