Questo concerto ci trasporta lontano, nel Sud, nelle piantagioni di cotone degli Stati Uniti, dove i canti accompagnavano gli afroamericani durante il duro lavoro, alleviando la fatica. Questi canti rappresentavano una rielaborazione in chiave cristiana della musica rituale africana. Grazie a Thomas A. Dorsey e al suo impegno, questa musica è stata modernizzata a partire dai vecchi moduli espressivi, senza però tradire la tradizione. Questo sforzo ha portato alla nascita di un nuovo genere: il Gospel.

Dieses Konzert entführt uns weit in den Süden, auf die Baumwollplantagen der Vereinigten Staaten, wo Gesänge die afroamerikanischen Arbeiter bei ihrer schweren Arbeit begleiteten und ihnen die Mühen erleichterten. Diese Gesänge stellten eine christliche Neuinterpretation der afrikanischen Ritualmusik dar. Dank Thomas A. Dorsey und seines Engagements wurde diese Musik auf der Grundlage der alten Ausdrucksformen modernisiert, ohne die Tradition zu verraten. Dieses Bestreben führte zur Entstehung eines neuen Genres: das Gospel.
