It will cover; how to identify different non-surgical periodontal hand and ultrasonic instruments and be able to use them effectively. The hands-on portion of the course will allow delegate to practice hands on instrumentation for PMPR and also instrument sharpening.6 hours CPD provided.Learning OutcomesAt the end of the day, participants should:- Understand basis of treatment planning in patients with periodontal disease- Improve techniques for professional mechanical plaque removal- Be able to use and sharpen curettes effectively.- Appreciate the different indications for ultrasonic and hand scalers for clinical effectivenessHosted By Dr Richard Horwitz BDS, MClinDent, MFDS MPerio RCS, Cert Perio (EFP) FCGDent, FHEA, Specialist in PeriodonticsDr. Richard Horwitz is a periodontist completing his specialist training at The Eastman Dental Institute (UCL). He was awarded Certification in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry from the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh for Periodontics, and Fellow of the College of General Dentistry. Dr. Horwitz works in private practice in London (UK), focusing on periodontics and implant dentistry.Dr. Horwitz has a particular clinical special interest in aesthetic and functional crown lengthening, having authored a chapter on this topic for the British Dental Journal book "Tooth Wear: An Authoritative Reference for Dental Professionals and Students.” Other clinical interests are within implant dentistry, hard and soft tissue augmentation. He has also published numerous articles on the management of halitosis, alveolar ridge preservation, and peri-implantitis.Beyond his private practice, Dr. Horwitz is a visiting lecturer at the Eastman Dental Institute (UCL), serves on the Editorial board for Clinical Dentistry (FMC), and is a member on council for the Alpha Omega Dental Society London Chapter, where he served as Chair in 2019/2020.Filming and PhotographyWe’ll be capturing video and photography throughout the event to share on our website and social media.
