Due to the nature of Bolsover's topography, there will also be some steep inclines both up and down. Appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes are essential.Please contact us at volunteers@derbyshirehistoricbuildingstrust.org.uk if you have any questions about whether this tour will be suitable for your accessibility needs.The Event:Find out more about our 'Buildings at Risk' (B@R) app and enjoy a special guided walking tour of the historic town of Bolsover.We will meet at Bolsover Assembly Hall, close to the heart of Bolsover, for a brief introduction led by our knowledgeable team.We will then set off on a stroll into the town led by Bolsover resident and local historian, Wendy Stevenson. You'll soon discover that this fantastic town's heritage offers much more than just a castle!After our tour of the town centre, we will descend to the model colliery village of New Bolsover to learn more about its roots in Bolsover's industrial heritage and complete some building condition surveys using the B@R app along the way.We will then head back up the hill to the Assembly Hall for a chat and light refreshments.Whether you are interested in local history, have downloaded the app but need some support to get started, or you’re a seasoned B@R app expert- all are welcome!You will have the opportunity to meet our friendly team and other like-minded people in a relaxed, sociable environment whilst learning more about the Bolsover area and getting some valuable experience completing condition surveys 'in the field'.Date: Friday 25th September 2026Meeting Location: George Bratt Room, Bolsover Assembly Hall Community Centre, Bolsover, S44 6PXThe George Bratt Room is located on the first floor. A lift is available if required.Transport: The Assembly Hall has a small car park which is free of charge to use, with two accessible parking bays. However, this car park can get busy so alternative parking can be found just a short walk away at the Town End and Bolsover Castle car parks.There are frequent and regular bus services that stop at the Market Place Bus Stop on Town End, a two-minute walk away from the Assembly Hall.Time: 9.30am-approximately 1.30pm. The walk itself will take around 2-3 hours and will be followed by light refreshments at the Assembly Hall.Facilities and Additional Details: Toilet facilities are available at Bolsover Assembly Hall and public toilets are available at Old Bolsover Yard on Castle Street.
