Magha Puja Ceremony
Magha Puja Day is one of the special Buddhist's holy days which falls on the full moon day of the third lunar month. On this day 1250 Arahant monks came together without prior arrangement to pay homage to the lord Buddha at Veruvana monastery. More importantly, it was the first and only occasion that the lord Buddha addressed his disciples the Ovada-Patimokkha (discourse on rules), also know as the Fundamentals of Buddhism, namely 1) Eliminate harmful actions, 2) Take 'good-for-all' beneficial actions, 3) Purify the mind within. And therefore this extraordinary event is called the Fourfold Assembly and was marked by four factors:
The assembly of 1250 Arahants (Enlightened).
These Arahants were ordained by the Lord Buddha himself.
The Arahants came on their own accord without prior arrangement.
It was the full moon day of the third lunar month.
