Mirva Theatre comes to intoBodmin with An Audience with Yorick - a spooky, silly and sharply funny musical telling the strange tale of how William Shakespeare met Cornwall’s most famous talking skeleton.
Set in 1597, amidst the threat of plague and the quiet isolation of Cornwall, Shakespeare has retreated from the world, his quill unmoved and his future uncertain. When Elizabeth I delivers a royal ultimatum - produce a new play or face the end of theatre as we know it - his solitude is shattered.
Enter Yorick: a loud-mouthed, irreverent skeleton whose relentless humour forces Shakespeare to confront everything he’s been avoiding.
A bold, darkly comedic tale about art, power and creative struggle, An Audience with Yorick blends live music, puppetry, song and storytelling into a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud theatrical adventure.
Suitable for primary school–aged children - think Horrible Histories energy: playful, spooky, clever and educational, with plenty for grown-ups to enjoy too.
Don’t miss this thrilling journey of self-discovery, where the fate of theatre - and Shakespeare’s soul - hang in the balance.
