Root Institute is devoting a whole month to this extensive offering retreat – an opportunity for Dharma practitioners to undertake preliminary (or life) practices in the holiest place in the Buddhist world, the Mahabodhi Stupa.
Through the power of this holy place blessed by the Buddhas and bodhisattvas, any action of body, speech and mind is said to be multiplied eight times.
The retreat encompasses Chötrül Düchen – Losar and Lord Buddha's 15 Days of Miracles (February 18 – March 4, 2026) – when, through the power of the time, any virtuous activity is multiplied 100,000 times. At this time of year, the Mahabodhi Stupa is home to dharma practitioners from around the world, all making offerings and accumulating as much merit as possible. The atmosphere will be amazing!
Participants will join this virtuous collective each day and work together to purify negativities and accumulate merit.
Collective goal
In a earlier season, our students offered over 74,000 water bowls.
This season we hope to reach our collective goal of offering 100,000 water bowls.
Features of the retreat
An experienced Dharma student will be guiding the retreat.
Ideally, participants will have received some Buddhist teachings before taking part.
Essentially, each student will commit to the group aspect of this retreat and be a full participant in each session.
On the other hand, participation is open to non-residents of Root Institute.
The schedule will be available closer to the time, and provide ample rest between offering sessions.
Join us for a rare and precious month of intensive merit accumulation! An opportunity of a lifetime!
