It was acquired by the Wildlands Conservancy in 2015 through a public-private partnership and includes a one-mile stretch along the mouth of the Estero Americano Estuary, part of the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.The trail has spectacular 360 degree views and huge patches of Pacific Coast iris. We will walk along the Ridge trail, then to the beach for lunch and then back along the Bluff trail.Corby Hines is a naturalist and videographer with a degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana who has worked in salmon restoration, education, and as a nature guide. He is currently a Ranger with the Wildlands Conservancy leading interpretive hikes and restoring the land at our Sonoma Coast Preserves.We will meet at the Estero pedestrian gate which is a short walk up Shorttail Gulch trailhead. Parking is along the road and we ask that everyone park on the same side of the road- which would be the trailhead side. There is a continuous climb to the ridge, about 1 mile, then depending on the loop, a 4 mile or 2.5 mile trail back to the start.
